How I got my first 3 customers and the steps for you to do the same.

Josh Maitland

Recording Studio

After nearly 10 years of making my own music as a hobby, I had accumulated a good bit of music equipment and a healthy knowledge of crafting high quality recordings. I had recently recorded my own band in a solar powered cabin on an island in northern Ontario, and it was time to start charging for my skills.

I cold emailed a local band that I had been hearing a lot about, and told them about a gig opportunity. They ended up playing the show and we met up afterwards. After a few more back and forth emails, I offered them an introductory discount - pay for one day of recording and I'll mix the songs for free - well a year later, we are finishing up a six song EP, with much more on the horizon.

I made some new friends AND I'm getting paid to do work that I am passionate about.
