The first customers are always difficult to determine. In the beginning with Stride, we built the product to suit a need that we couldn't meet with currently existing tools. We built it for people like ourselves, web designers, business developers, and freelancers. So in a way, we were our biggest critics and our first customers.
However, when it came to our first paying customers, we reached out to folks in our industry who we knew could use something like this, gave them a demo and a free account, and when they fell in love with the product, they wanted to pay for it. It all spread by people discovering that Stride was what they have been looking for all along.
Eventually we learned what our ideal target market was, and started to make campaigns and moves towards it.
