Thankfully, I listened to some great advice and built an audience of potential customers and an email list with about 2,000 potential leads. I sent an email to these leads and asked if I could get their opinion on a few service ideas. About 30 people agreed to get on Skype and have me interrogate them about their business and my ideas.
After a week of interviews, I had three new clients even though I didn't have a specific service to offer them! I created the service to match their needs. From there I turned those first few projects into an ongoing revenue stream.
Don't try to guess what your customers want - just pick up the darn phone and ask them!
