Getting vulnerable.

Hat in hand, contacting with people who I wanted to learn from and asking for them to donate their time for me to learn about them and pitch an idea. Sometimes I was pitching an interview or introduction, other times it was to trial and pay for a product from one of my startups.

The conversation model I use is called: Position, Permission, Pitch.

"{Name}, I have a passion to help bloggers who are considering crowdfunding to learn from other successful entrepreneurs. I'd like to pitch an idea and ask you at the end if you would be willing to introduce me to entrepreneurs in your network. But it's okay to tell me that I need to keep working on it." [Position].

"Does this sound okay to you?" [Permission]

[Pitch]

There is no other way to get your first customers but to suck it up, lose your pride, embrace the fear that this might not work and intersect with the marketplace.

The Tip

To whet your beak

Get vulnerable to be remarkable: position, permission, pitch.
